Information for Parents and Advisors

Our Youth and Community Development Team provide a range of events, activities and resources to help schools, groups and individuals learn about Ara.

Check out what’s available below.

A guided campus tour is a great way to see Ara in action and get a feel for what it’s like to study here. We can show you around any of our five Canterbury campuses, or provide a tailored tour of your particular area of interest. Tours can be for individuals or for school/community groups.

During your tour we can provide an overview of the programmes we offer, and talk about the services and support available to students. Your guide will be happy to answer any questions you might have, and if you’re visiting our City campus from out of town, we can arrange as part of your tour a visit to Ōtautahi House, our on-site student accommodation.

Use our online form to request a tour and we’ll contact you to arrange a suitable day and time. Please note that a minimum of five working days’ notice is required for a campus tour, and 15 working days’ notice for tour of nursing.

Experience Ara is all about giving you a feel for tertiary-level study while you’re still at school. There are hands-on taster days, holiday programmes and workshops throughout the school year and most are free. Depending on the activity, you might meet tutors and current students, use our industry-standard facilities to undertake tasks and challenges, or just have a great time learning about a subject you’re really interested in.
