Imagine spending the weekend exploring the Great Wall in China, climbing Tokyo Tower, cycling in the Netherlands, or kayaking in North Carolina - all after a week of studying towards your degree.

About Student Exchange

If you’re an eligible Ara student studying towards a degree, you can choose to do 6-12 months of your study at one of our many partner institutions all over the world.

You remain enrolled and continue to pay tuition at Ara during your exchange, and the courses you study overseas may be credited towards your degree.

Our partner institutions vary in programmes, language of instruction, and accommodation options. We have a full time Student Exchange Coordinator who is available to advise on the options available to you. Please note that some destinations are programme specific.

Eligibility: You must be in year 2 of your degree at the time of travel, a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, and maintain B or above average.

The first step – expression of interest

1. Browse our partner institutions and their programmes (see map and list below)
2. Express your interest with Ara’s Student Exchange Coordinator.
3. Email exchanges@ara.ac.nz with your name, student ID, the overseas institution and programme you’re interested in. The exchange coordinator can support you to find a suitable programme.
